On plight of cage home dwellers:

Sandy London - Where has the compassion gone when it comes to helping those in need? Where has the 'we're all in this together' way of thinking gone? Where has the politeness of society gone? Where has the respect for one another gone? When did 'me first and to hell with everyone else in this world' replace reaching out a helping hand? Why don't we know our neighbours any more? What has happened to humanity? This is a truly sad world that we live in.

Karen Lowe - And this is a city that boasts a financial surplus - disgraceful!

Alex Sabados - 'More depressing than Indian slums'. Is that meant to be the litmus test against which to qualify levels of despair? I'm sure the comparison is appreciated by Indian nationals.

On skyrocketing food prices and inflation:

Jamil Shah - It is said that 20% of the world population uses 80% of world resources. Luckily I am in that 20%. But I think instead of handing out money like the HK government is doing they should set up some kind of food subsidy programme for the low-income families.

On targeting Somalia's pirates on land:

Kelvin Ng - That is the right approach, but the Western powers have not advocated it because they are afraid of a repeat of [Bill] Clinton's blunder back in [the] 1990s.

On the chief executive's criticism of 'a certain party':

Guy Freeman - Maybe if his government followed the law this wouldn't have happened. Attacking someone going to court is a disgrace. And the Civic Party even says it is in favour of the bridge!
