Made to last

Mulberry's Henry collection of leather bags is minimal and modern. Available in solid tones of black, oak or gunmetal grey, these bags are made to go the distance. We like the gym bag (below right; HK$11,500), in grey, for its sparse detailing and classic shape. We also like the overnight briefcase in smooth oak-coloured leather (above right; HK$13,000), which has a toiletries pocket and a slot for a laptop. Mulberry is at Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2956 0830.

Guess work

This season, Guess borrows elements from its archives in a collection that honours the American influences the label was founded on. This translates into modern garments with details inspired by vintage workwear. We like the classic casual looks, such as jeans (HK$690) worn with a striped white cardigan (HK$690) and anchor print tee (all far left; HK$390), and beige chinos (HK$850) worn with a light denim shirt (both left; HK$850). Guess is at 2 Kingston Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 3422 8568.

Mixed messages

For spring-summer, Hermes has created a collection based on what designer Veronique Nichanian calls the 'hybrid' clothing concept. Expect garments with mixed elements, relaxed silhouettes and colours that range from crisp white to bright green and earthy tones. Overall, the collection has a sense of ease, comfort and lightness, enhanced by the use of ultra-sheer and technical fabrics. We like the printed metallic silk shirt (HK$18,900) and earthy-toned loose-fit trousers (both above right; HK$38,700), and the fresh all-white look comprising a cotton shirt (HK$4,900) and trousers (both right; HK$4,300). Hermes is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2575 5424.

Team play

Adidas and Diesel have teamed up to create a line of limited-edition trainers. Incorporating iconic elements from both brands, the shapes are derived from classic adidas trainers, with details inspired by past and present Diesel collections. Only 60 pairs of each of the five styles are being released. The latest is the Stan Smith Special (left; HK$2,200), named after the 1970s American tennis player, with colours taken from Diesel's 1978 denim collection. The trainers are available at Diesel, 20 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2525 0540.
