The Lyric Theatre at the Academy for Performing Arts hosted a full house of well-heeled tai-tais and fashionistas rather than theatre-goers when Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo held its autumn-winter show. Models were sent down the runway on Friday night in classy houndstooth-check jackets and sleek evening gowns decorated with Swarovski crystals.

Grammy-nominated DJ Andy Caldwell flew in from Los Angeles to spin tunes for the party, where guests also got a front-row view of Ferragamo's crystal-studded shoes, bags and fragrances.

Canto-pop diva Kelly Chen Wai-lam stayed behind after the show and mingled with guests. She left after posing for a few photos with fans.

Celebrity couple Qiqi and Simon Yam Tat-wah also turned up to get inspiration for their winter wardrobe. After being married for more than a decade, they still had eyes only for each other. Yam said his wife had recently given him a luxury car as a Father's Day present.

'It's not what she gave me that matters, I'm so glad we have such a happy family,' he said.

Qiqi quipped: 'How about next year I just give you a pack of cotton candy?'

'Why not? Sweet candies always make me happy,' he replied.

Be careful what you wish for, Simon - those crystals won't stick to candyfloss.
