Woman raped on boat trip, court told

A waiter raped a female flight attendant after she got 'wasted' and was left alone unconscious in a room on a boat trip organised by popular disco Beijing Club, a court heard yesterday.

The woman, 22, said she had no recollection of what happened, only finding out about the alleged attack when she felt pain in her private parts and questioned her friends, who said they had seen a man on top of her.

Laxman Gurung, 20, a waiter at Billion Club, which is owned by Beijing Club, pleaded not guilty in the Court of First Instance to raping the woman on June 27 last year.

The court heard that Gurung told police that she had shown him her breasts and asked him to have sex.

But prosecutor Peter Callaghan said the victim was so drunk that she passed out. 'She was incapable of giving consent or exercising judgment because she was so affected by the alcohol,' he said.

Giving evidence in court, the woman said she joined the public- relations boat trip with three female friends on the invitation of a DJ working for the club. Four boats sailed from Central to a Sai Kung beach.

She drank two cans of beer, a glass of wine, and a couple of glasses of vodka and became 'wasted'.

She said when she woke up at about 11am the next day, feeling pain in her private parts, and sent text messages to her friends asking them what happened the night before.

Callaghan told the court that after the woman passed out her friends put her on a bed in a cabin and left her there.

When they returned to the room, they saw a man on top of their friend, having sex with her, the court heard.

The trial continues.
