After floods, droughts, tsunamis, earthquakes, and even some perfect growing conditions, relieved farmers across the world are bringing in their wheat harvests. With an average of 70 kilograms a year consumed by each one of us, wheat is only second to rice as the main human food crop. It gives us toast and cereal for breakfast, noodles for tea, and is used in fermentation to make beer.
