Weichong Marwing revealed earlier this week that he would not re-apply for a licence next season and stewards handed him a hefty departure tax for a careless effort aboard Star Legend in the second event. Causing interference to the eventual winner Share Of Gold and Zac Purton was cause enough for the stipes to give Marwing a two-day ban and HK$35,000 fine. Purton was also reprimanded and fined HK$5,000 for directing an inappropriate gesture towards Marwing prior to the winning post. Marwing, who begins his ban after Wednesday's Happy Valley fixture, will return home to South Africa to help guide his son's fledgling career as a jockey.
