Terry has faith in Torres and Luiz

John Terry hopes Chelsea's marquee January signings can show their best form when they appear in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong next month.

Terry will lead Chelsea on the club's four-game tour, which also takes in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok before they arrive in Hong Kong, and the captain fully expects Fernando Torres and David Luiz to be firing on all cylinders during the four-team tournament, on July 27 and 30. Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and local champions Kitchee will also feature at Hong Kong Stadium.

Spaniard Torres has taken time to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge, while Brazilian David Luiz started well and is expected to be in his country's squad for the Copa America, which overlaps with Chelsea's Asia tour.

'We're a great football club, we made two fantastic signings in January in Fernando Torres and David Luiz, and I can't wait to see them both playing for Chelsea when they have a pre-season under their belts,' Terry said. 'They've fitted into the squad brilliantly already, but fans in pre-season will hopefully get to see first-hand how well they are doing. They have really freshened the club up and hopefully there will be some more new signings by the time we arrive in Asia next month.'

Terry, 30, believes the summer will be an important period for the club, with a new manager to come in, and a strong desire among the squad to win back the Premier League crown.

'The season ahead is an important one for us, we'll be doing everything we can to get the Premier League trophy back,' Terry stressed. 'That starts from the first day of pre-season training and into the matches, where we will all be working hard to show we deserve a place in the team.'

Terry, 30, has seen his fair share of Chelsea tours but insists he never tires of the travel. 'It's always great being away on tour and seeing fans from around the world and how much it means to them to watch Chelsea,' the defender said. 'As players we love to see it and like to show our appreciation by meeting as many as we can.

'It's all part of how much the club has grown in recent years and something we have to continue to do to compete at the top level.'

Chelsea's first tour game takes place on July 21 in Kuala Lumpur and they play in Bangkok three days later. The club is in action in Europe before that, with away games against Vitesse Arnhem and Portsmouth.
