Man of the moment Riccardo Tisci's dark, sensual designs for Givenchy come straight from the heart, writes Jing Zhang.
HTC chief executive Peter Chou emulated Steve Jobs with his lone-man-on-stage speech at the smartphone maker's first Hong Kong brand party at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Chou was well equipped with verbal riffs on ideas of 'people-driven design' and 'quietly brilliant innovations' at Friday's event, although next time he might consider adding the Jobsian black turtleneck and hands-free mic to complete the tech-guru look.
Guests were invited to have their picture taken on arrival, for the chance to win one of six of the brand's latest smartphone offerings - the HTC Sensation. The 'hi-tech' lucky draw involved picking a winner from the guest photo pool by pointing at random on the touch screen of an HTC tablet.
However, after a minor technical glitch the emcee resorted to the time-honoured method of throwing 'bouquets' (in this case soft phone cases) into the crowd to be caught by the nimblest of the party-goers.
One bespectacled winner in particular leaped onto the stage to receive his prize. Asked if he was ready for a new HTC phone, he replied: 'Yes! Gimme, gimme, gimme!'
