To celebrate its 250th anniversary, German stationery brand Faber-Castell showcased its smallest, oldest and most expensive coloured pencils at an exhibition in Harbour City.

Illustrator Alice Chan was a fitting guest of honour at the exhibition, given her bright creations, while model Coco Chiang Yi added a touch of glamour, turning up in a colourful outfit to show her enthusiasm for the arts.

The duo came to the celebration with a hand-made birthday card.

Chan, creator of the large-eyed, fashionable female character Asteria, didn't only use drawing tools for her pursuit of art in her youth, they were also her toys.

'I was a very naughty kid. I liked to play with the kneaded eraser in class and mould it into different shapes, like lollipops,' the artist said.

Now preparing for an exhibition of paintings and sculptures, she will need to stay off the theme of sweet things, or her work may be mistaken for canapes.
