Marketing consultants Ben Chan, 27, and Kitty Ng, 26, were married on April 29 at City Hall - the place where they officially became a couple in 2003. They celebrated the union with a banquet at the Harbourview Horizon Hotel for more than 300 guests.

'Every day we spend together is precious,' Kitty said. 'We'd been together for 2,715 days on the day we married.'

The couple met as freshmen on registration day at Polytechnic University, where they were both in the communications department. Feelings for each other grew when they volunteered to teach Cantonese to South Asian children.

'He was so good with the kids,' Kitty recalled.

Two months after they met, Ben took Kitty on the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island one evening. While they were strolling in front of City Hall, Ben asked Kitty to be his.

'The atmosphere was really perfect, you know, even the moonlight was romantic,' Ben said.

In 2004, they spent the summer travelling Europe, going to some of the most romantic spots in Britain, France, Switzerland and Italy.

'It was during that trip that I noticed he took really good care of me,' Kitty said.

As soon as they graduated, the couple began talking about marriage and started to save for a flat. It wasn't until April last year, when they finally got the key to their new flat, that Ben popped the question.

'I went to the flat and there were candles everywhere. He'd spelled out 'will you marry me' with the candles,' Kitty said.

'After being together for so many years, it's not easy to surprise her,' Ben said.

And the couple still keep count of the many days they've been together.
