Trainer Manfred Man Ka-leung managed to nurture his promising dirt performer Five Clubs back from a bleeding attack on January 16 to claim a resuming win in the Omega Handicap (1,200m). Man and red-hot Derek Leung Ka-chun combined to grab a first victory with the Danbird gelding after a five-month absence from the race-track, no easy feat according to the trainer. 'I think this is the first horse from my stable to come back from a bleeding attack and win first time out,' Man said. 'He has been working OK, and I think he is fine now, but it is always different under race pressure. Five Clubs is a decent dirt horse and we will stick to this track with him next season.'
