Tropical

While you may not be able to escape to the tropics this summer, you can still recreate your own island look for the city streets. The trend was first spotted at Christian Dior, where South Pacific-styled models (left) floated down the runways in floral chiffon halter dresses, crochet separates and sexy shorts, topped off with sailor hats. Naturally, head-to-toe looks do not translate off the beach, so it's best to pick certain 'tropical' elements and incorporate them into your everyday wardrobe. Try printed floral separates or summer dresses in bold colours such as yellow, fuchsia and coral. But the real trick in making this look work comes from choosing the right accessories.

It's best to choose styles with floral accents rather than an all-over print, which can look messy. Subtle floral appliqu?s and embellishments add a feminine touch, as seen in these Chanel flats decorated with an understated camellia (HK$2,300).

Opt for a floral motif bag such as the Galuchat Art Nouveau Clutch (HK$92,500) from Louis Vuitton, which is made from stingray and ostrich leather.

A statement piece can make or break your look. The Be Dior necklace (HK$16,500) from Christian Dior features hand-printed enamel flowers, ceramic roses and acetate bee elements and will look striking paired with a colour block tee or dress.
