Stars glitter amid diamond-studded jewellery at opening of Van Cleef & Arpels' new shop
Van Cleef & Arpels opened its fifth shop in Hong Kong, at Lee Gardens Two, but the guests of honour at Friday's cocktail party seemed to have stolen the scene from the diamond-studded necklaces, brooches and bracelets on display.
Star couple Andy On Chi-kit and Jennifer Tse Ting-ting were swamped by reporters asking about Tse's brother, Nicholas Tse Ting-fung. Nicholas Tse had just returned from Kuala Lumpur, where he had been filming with On, to discuss with his actress wife Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi their troubled marriage.
'[Tse] didn't talk much about private matters on the flight home,' On said. 'All I can say is that he's a very good father. He's strong, smart and very kind-hearted. I'm proud to have him as a friend.'
Radio host Eileen Cha Siu-yan and television host Helen To Yu-fung, close friends of the Tses, were also at the shop opening. What better way to attract the press than have so many parties to the Nick-Cecilia affair under one roof? At least guests had more to chat about over free-flowing champagne than million-dollar jewellery.
