Making the grade

There's no such thing as a free lunch, so the adage goes. But American-style diner Bubba Gump Shrimp says otherwise - well, for A-grade students, at any rate.

Until August 31, the diner on The Peak will reward high-flying junior students. By presenting their school report cards when ordering, youngsters aged up to 12 can get free treats.

Those with one or two As will be entitled to an ice cream, while those with three or four As earn a milkshake of their choice. Students with five or more As will be treated to an entire meal - choosing from fish and chips, burgers, hot dogs, linguini in meat sauce and chicken strips to the iconic popcorn shrimp with fries.

'Bubba Gump is a family-friendly, themed restaurant,' says Sally Cheung, the restaurant's sales and marketing manager. 'We care about children and would like to reward them through this promotion. Children work hard to achieve good grades these days, so it's nice to acknowledge that.

'We've selected the most popular items among children - including ice cream and milkshakes - to motivate them to work harder. We have to attract them by offering something they like!'

The adage, however, remains correct to a certain extent - accompanying parents need to order entree dishes for themselves to qualify their children for the deal.

Bubba Gump Shrimp is at 3/F, Peak Tower, 128 Peak Road, The Peak. For more details, call 2849 2867.
