Maternity wear

Australian designer Stephanie Schell developed her own range of maternity wear after failing to find anything practical or fashionable when she was pregnant. Many of her designs can take women from pregnancy to post-delivery, including this jumpsuit (below). The pleated front and elastic waistband make room for an expanding waistline and hidden zips on each side allow for breastfeeding. HK$1,809 at Nine Months, 5/F, Tung Yiu Commercial Building, 31A Wyndham Street, Central, tel: 2868 5988

IM Maternity is a new company specialising in attire for pregnant women. The outlet stocks comfortable clothes made from fabric such as bamboo and modal cotton. As well as a charity T-shirt with part of the proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for children, the current collection includes this cap sleeve Henley top (left) made from modal - which is also resistant to shrinkage and creases. The underbelly slim-leg cut Capri jeans have a stretchy waistband for growing tummies. HK$490 for the top and HK$590 for the jeans at www.immaternity.com or at Linea Negra, 13/F, Chung Fung Commercial Building, 12 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui; tel: 2730 7933

Linea Negra carries more than 30 maternity labels sourced from around the world, and many of the clothes have been designed so that they can still be worn long after the baby's birth. Summer items include this fuchsia top with a ruched front that expands and shrinks with the belly. The top and the linen denim shorts are by the Polish label 9fashion. HK$990 each at Linea Negra, Unit 501, 5/F, Pacific House, 20 Queen's Road Central; tel: 2522 7966
