Rotary has a new chief for the Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia district. David Harilela was named district governor for the 2011-12 term and with his wife, Avisha, welcomed more than 800 guests earlier this month to his inaugural ball at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Both David and his guest of honour, Hari Harilela, took the stage, each expressing fondness for their affiliations with Rotary. Hari said he was proud that his nephew, David, was now district governor of the organisation - 45 years after his own term in the job from 1965 to '66.

Guests enjoyed Californian wines and were entertained by TakeOut Comedy's Vivek Mahbubani and celebrity singer Sharon Kwok.
