This week we test: cleansing oil

Jocelyn Wong

Taking off your make-up is almost as important as putting it on - cleansing your face thoroughly helps to prevent spots and blemishes (plus it keeps your pillow smudge-free).

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil (HK$210/200ml)

It removes some make-up quite well, but was not so great at getting rid of mascara - and left a residue. 6/10

RMK Cleansing Oil (HK$260/175ml)

Effortlessly removes all traces of make-up, and leaves skin soft and glowing. Mildly medicinal smelling, though. 7/10

Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil (HK$170/200ml)

The cleanser is lightweight and it contains natural ingredients including olive, sunflower, sesame and safflower oils. Despite its obscure yellow colour, it is quick to remove dirt and make-up. Its fruit components (grapefruit, orange and lemon) give out a lovely mild fragrance. I love it! 8/10

Estee Lauder Take it Away Gentle Cleansing Oil (HK$215/200ml)

This is very gentle, even on the fussiest of skins. But what you gain in gentleness, you lose on cleaning power so you might find yourself using more oil than originally intended. 6/10

Orbis Cleansing Liquid (HK$169/150ml)

Leaves your skin feeling very clean and fresh after use, but not so great for eye make-up (especially not mascara). 7/10
