Activist lawyer freed, banished to hometown

Activist and lawyer Tang Jingling was released on Tuesday after being taken away by Guangzhou's Public Security Bureau in March for allegedly inciting subversion. Fellow activist Liang Xiaojun said Tang was sent to his hometown in Hubei province immediately after his release, according to Tang's wife. Tang had been under 'residential surveillance' since March in Dashi village, Panyu, where his wife was watched at their home over the past five months. Mimi Lau
