Ethereal beauty brings a timeless style to catwalk

The local fashion know-hows turned out en masse at Central's The Space gallery on Tuesday evening for Maria Luisa's autumn-winter fashion presentation.

Stylish boys Wyman Wong Wai-man and Anthony Wong Yiu-ming showed up to support the designer, even though only womenswear was showcased. Actress Sandra Ng Kwun-yu even spared a couple hours on her birthday to catch the show.

While the models trotted down the runway in the latest fashion, the Parisian tastemaker wore a Nina Ricci metallic blazer from a couple of seasons ago.

'I had this jacket for two or three years but I never wore it until today. It didn't feel right until now,' said Luisa, buyer and founder of her namesake multi-label select shop which now has branches in Paris, Hong Kong and Doha, Qatar.

The ethereal beauty's taste in timeless classics was evident in her runway choices.

'Trends are for people who don't really understand style,' she said.

The front row was taken by the city's top-notch stylists, models, socialites and fashion authors, who rubbed shoulders with Luisa.

The crowd did not start to thin out until almost midnight. Many moved next door for more booze and post-show snacks at the Italian restaurant and bar 208 Duecento Otto. Luisa was happy to chat with fans during her ciggie break outside of the gallery after the show.
