Dancers of tomorrow shine at Jean M. Wong's annual recital
There was not a single black swan to be found at Jean M. Wong's annual ballet recital, Stars of Tomorrow, at Sha Tin Town Hall.
More than 160 twinkle-toed young dancers who have taken part in the summer dance programme of Wong's ballet school graced the stage throughout Saturday night's playful line-up.
In his last big performance before heading to France to train at the prestigious L'Ecole de Danse de Paris, 14-year-old prodigy Lam Chun-wing danced the lead as Colas in the evening's featured comedy, La Fille Mal Gardee, Jean Dauberval's ballet about two young lovers who must outsmart the girl's mother to be together.
Lam was presented with the Tsinforn C. Wong Memorial Scholarship's Dame Margot Fonteyn Award by Secretary for Education Michael Suen Ming-yeung to the applause of such guests as celebrities Bernice Liu Bik-yi, Rose Chan, Flora Cheong-leen (who made a special trip from Beijing to be present), Janet Ma Sze-wai and Helena Pong.
