France awaits DSK's delayed homecoming
Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn (pictured) is expected to leave the United States after rape charges delayed his departure for France by more than three months. Minutes after charges against him were withdrawn, the earthquake that rattled the eastern US seaboard on Tuesday afternoon extended Strauss-Kahn's stay by at least a day, by forcing the early closure of the New York courthouse where his passport was being held. 'I'm eager to return to my country,' said Strauss-Kahn, who on May 14 was plucked from an aircraft about to take off. 'I'll express myself at greater length once I'm back in France.'

The survey is expected to show that expatriate salaries in Hong Kong are lower than elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region. The latest survey comes after a poll in June revealed that, despite inflation as high as 7.9 per cent, Hong Kong had dropped down the list of the world's most expensive cities due to its US dollar peg.
Winnie the Pooh into heavy metal
One of the city's biggest jewellery chains will unveil its latest creation after winning the right to depict a Disney character in gold. Chow Tai Fook says its 'World Largest Pure Gold Winnie the Pooh' will weigh 448 taels (around 600 ounces). After the metal vaulted above US$1,900 an ounce last week, the jeweller may have thought it was a plaything for only the very rich. But after gold retreated to US$1,836 yesterday, it may now be hoping its golden Winnie is not an omen that the market has peaked.
