FAST food giant McDonald's has asked to meet authorities to discuss the mainland's order to vacate its premises in Beijing's business district.

In a statement, McDonald's said: 'We have contacted the city Government of Beijing and asked for a meeting to discuss the matter as soon as possible.' McDonald's China Development Company in-house counsel Andrew Law said that the group had not decided whether or not to take legal action.

Beijing's city Government has asked McDonald's to leave its premises on the corner of Beijing's Wangfujing Street and the Changan Avenue.

McDonald's has said that an agreement was signed with Beijing which allows them to use the site two streets from the Tiananmen Square for 20 years.

The 28,000-square-foot site is McDonald's largest restaurant and has only been in operation for about two years.
