HKU in hot water over Li

Li Keqiang

The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Council says it will set up a committee to look into controversies surrounding the recent visit of Vice-Premier Li Keqiang to the campus. The university was criticised for its heavy-handed security. It also allowed Li to be seated so that his status seemed to be above that of the chancellor and pro-chancellor during a ceremony.

Alumni and students belonging to the HKU Centenary Action group spoke up against the university's handling of Li's visit on August 18. They said they wanted HKU officials to explain honestly what happened that day.
