Not even a few stiff drinks can loosen Leon Lai Ming's lips
Show business 'heavenly king' Leon Lai Ming has always been tight-lipped about private matters. So when he was out on the town promoting Johnnie Walker Blue Label, we wondered if a glass or two of Scotch might loosen him up.
The star had a glass of the premium whisky in his hand almost all night at the event on Friday at Sheung Wan gallery The Space, where he exchanged drinking stories with Johnnie Walker global brand ambassador Jonathan Driver.
'I'm not really a big drinker, but I can still drink when I'm not too tired,' Lai said, offering his definition of modest consumption by adding: 'If I drank 1,000 glasses, I'd be a dead man. I guess my limit is no more than 50 glasses.
'But sometimes, you can't help drinking. I've got more experienced in dealing with hangovers nowadays.'
Lai, who now runs his own record company, A Music, obviously has experience dodging questions about his personal life even after a few stiff drinks. When asked how he celebrated model wife Gaile Lai Kei-yi's birthday recently, he said: 'Some people like to gossip and some [artists] don't mind talking about things. But I don't think it is helpful to me in any way. I don't need such publicity these days.'
