New Cinepoly record deal gives Kary Ng plenty to sing about

Congratulations to Kary Ng Yu-fei on her new contract with Cinepoly Records - and the big fat cheque that came with it.

'I'm happy with the amount I was paid. Seriously, I've never seen so many zeros on my cheques before,' she said at a press conference on Monday at the W hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.

'The day I got my cheque, I was crying tears of joy. That totally confused my mum.'

Ng said she had already invested the money in a property. 'I paid the down payment for a flat using that money. I'd never felt financial pressure until I got the flat. Now I can feel it weighing down on my shoulders. I'll have to earn more money,' she said.

Some of Ng's fellow Cinepoly artists, including Kelly Chen Wai-lam and Karen Mok Man-wai, congratulated her via a video played at the event.

News about her upcoming solo concert next year was also announced, and the audience was given a preview of her new Canto-pop album due for release in November.

It seems she's got enough work on her plate to make ends meet.
