Girls overcome all hurdles on road to championship road to championship

REPRESENTATIVES of Yuan House maintained their fine form in the finals to win the overall championship at the Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School's athletic meet recently at Kwai Chung Sports Ground.

Yuan's girls showed their potential in Grade A and C events with seventh former Wong Wing-shan taking the Grade A individual title and first former Hong Kit-ling the Grade C title. Another outstanding member, Chalee Ho (S5C), won the 100 m sprint in 15 seconds.

Despite failing to retain the overall title, Qin House athletes did not let their supporters down.

In the boys' 100 m Grade A's Yuen Yip-kam (S7A), Grade B's Kwok Kam-man (S3D) and Grade C's Ho Kwan-lam (S2A) won their respective races with brilliant performances. In the boys' high jump (Open) Fu Shing-kai (S4D) cleared 1.35 m to take the gold.

Long-distance runner Chan Kai-ming (S4D) won the 800 m and 1,500 m in two minutes 39.1 sec and 5 min 5.2 sec, respectively. With a third in triple jump, he took the individual title in Grade B.

Teammate Ho Kwan-lam (S2A) sprinted to victory in the 100 m and 200 m to win the Grade C title.

Seventh former Lam Tai-yan leapt 3.89 m to win another gold for Qin House in the girls' Grade A long jump. The Grade B event was also won by her teammate Cheung Sui-fung, whose best effort was 4.18 m.

The Tang boys triumphed in the Grade A 4 x 50 m relay in 50 sec, but Qin House took the Grades B and C events.

Qin House shone again in the girls' Grade A 4 x 50 m relay, beating Yuan and Tang in one min 8.2 sec.

Grade A Man Hing-on (S6B) and Grade B Chan Yue-ming (S2B) restored some pride for Han House as they became individual champions.
