Matthew Chadwick had to work hard to find the lead on Epee De Hua, but once he found it, the resilient gelding wasn't going to give it up without a fight. The Tony Millard-trained six-year-old notched win number four in a Class Five on the all-weather track, thanks in part to the ride by Chadwick, who took out the Jockey Challenge courtesy of a double, with both victories, aggressive on-pace efforts. He fired Epee De Hua out of gate 12 in the opener and didn't find the fence until 800m. 'Eventually they gave it up, he got there nicely, settled well and managed to stay on,' he said. 'He didn't have as much pace as I thought, but down in that grade, there's only a couple with pace and normally no one wants to go forward.'
