Man of the moment Riccardo Tisci's dark, sensual designs for Givenchy come straight from the heart, writes Jing Zhang.
Talk about being overqualified for the job. Several projects in the world of advertising have recently caught our attention.
First, top filmmaker Wong Kar-wai collaborated on a product line for Japanese beauty brand Shu Uemura's festive holiday collection, and more importantly created the collection's campaign and a commercial starring Taiwanese actress Sandrine Pinna.
In another development, local mattress brand Sea Horse secured award-winning mainland actress Li Bingbing for its new television commercial.
The star-studded production also has on board veteran filmmaker Stanley Kwan Kam-pang along with artistic director, production designer and film editor William Chang Suk-ping.
With a budget topping HK$10 million - Li's dress alone cost more than HK$100,000 - the project appears to have been quite alluring to prominent filmmakers. Plus, it was a mere few seconds long - probably pricier per second than the blockbusters they have made.
The commercial will premiere on Saturday. You might want to get your popcorn ready.
