Veteran actress Anita Yuen takes centre stage, but adamant career is still on ice

It's easy to get veteran actress Anita Yuen Wing-yee to dip into her purse for a good cause, but it will be harder to convince her to star in front of the camera again.

Yuen was the guest of honour at the launch of footwear brand Ecco's charity campaign on Monday at the Harbour City mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. Ecco donated HK$100,000 to the Lotus Light Charity Society.

Yuen and a few other celebrities, including Florinda Ho Chiu-wan, Janet Ma and Johanna Ho, had earlier supported the campaign by posting on their Weibo microblogs photos of themselves wearing Ecco accessories.

Yuen was the centre of the attention, probably more so than the latest collection of shoes. Since starting a family with singer-actor Julian Cheung Chi-lam, the formerly prolific actress has put her career on ice.

'My husband always says he wants the best for me. So it's not just about how much they are willing to pay me, I'm also looking for a good script and production,' Yuen said.

'And preferably a good-looking co-star, because in films or television soaps, you are stuck with the same partner for months,' she joked.

Could her husband be the ideal candidate? 'We've acted together before,' she said. 'It was quite a good offer that we got, but trust me, not the best experience I've had.'
