Everyone can post a letter free on October 9

To mark the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874, Hongkong Post is hosting the eighth annual Free Post Day on October 9, which was declared World Post Day in 1969. Everyone can send a letter to someone in the city for free. Post offices will provide special collection boxes for the letters from October 7 to 9, and all the letters will be delivered on October 10.

Library drop-off boxes now in three MTR stations

Twelve book-drop boxes for public libraries have been installed in the paid areas at Central, Kowloon Tong and Nam Cheong MTR stations and would be cleared three times a day, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said. But overdue books and fragile non-book materials, such as cassettes and CDs, should be returned to libraries.

Corporate services chief for Hospital Authority

The Hospital Authority has hired a principal executive officer at the Transport Department, Margaret Cheung Sau-ling, to head its corporate services division from October 17. It also announced the appointment of Dr Hobby Cheung Kwong-yu as chief executive of the Kowloon Hospital and Hong Kong Eye Hospital. Cheung has been acting in the position since January.
