Lenka dropped into Hong Kong for a concert at the Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Kitec) last week as Typhoon Nesat edged towards the city. After a morning of fretting whether the concert would be cancelled, fans of the Australian pop singer were happy to hear that it would go on.

Packing the venue were children as young as five and people in their late 40s. The petite songstress, sporting a pixie-like hairdo and 1970s hippie outfit, filled the hall with an infectiously happy atmosphere that would have blown away any typhoon blues.

She started off with three songs from Two, her new album: Heart Skips a Beat, Roll with the Punches and Everything At Once. The musical highlights were cover versions of Dusty Springfield's I Only Wanna be With You and Amy Winehouse's Tears Dry on Their Own.

Lenka's pretty smile and love for her fans could be felt across the hall - even her dimples could be seen all the way in the back row. She gave an encore performance of Sad Song from her second album, Two, and fan favourite The Show, which had the audience singing along. However, fans refused to leave and yelled for the singer to come back.

Returning to the stage for a second encore, Lenka delivered an a cappella performance of Monsters. Mesmerised by her unaccompanied vocals, the audience remained completely quiet. After a deep bow, Lenka spun around and skipped off the stage, ending the night of heart-warming music.

Bringing the evening to a wonderful conclusion was an album signing where fans could buy Lenka's second album.
