Mark du Plessis landed himself a two-day careless riding ban but not before he also landed himself a winner on Athenium for Sean Woods. The suspension came out of the sixth race when Shiny Day was squeezed by Real Generous (Du Plessis). However, Athenium's second straight win under Du Plessis will be a happier memory for the jockey and for Woods, who has had difficulty getting the best out of the gelding due to his various physical issues, not the least of them internal bleeding. 'I'm working with a new vet, Greg Sommerville, and we've changed a few little things and it looks to have made a difference,' Woods said. 'I'm delighted to get two good ones in a row out of this horse. He's always had ability.'
