Police draw guns to subdue man with knives

Two police drew their handguns yesterday to subdue a man with two knives in Western. They were called at about 8.30am after a 55-year-old man allegedly attacked a 41-year-old male colleague with a broom during a dispute at a dried seafood shop in Connaught Road West. The older man, who was in an emotional state when the officers arrived, was arrested after a brief stand-off.

All places gone for the Hong Kong Marathon

All places for the Hong Kong Marathon on February 5 had been filled, the Amateur Athletic Association said. Organisers are checking all applications and will announce later whether there are places for a second round of online registration. If there is a second round, notice will be given on the marathon website and local media.

Doctor files new writ in feud with father

Doctor Lam Chuen-lung, who is engaged in legal action to evict his parents and sell the home, has filed a High Court writ seeking to bar his father from coming within 15 metres of his Lam Tin clinic. The writ says Lam Sing-yin glued the lock of his son's clinic, threatened to kill him, jammed his phone lines and scared staff and patients with 'high-handed and insolent' behaviour. The father receive a suspended prison sentence last year after the son accused him of criminal intimidation.
