Liberty Private Works has a new address. One of the city's hottest private kitchens - and the hardest to book - has moved from its premises on Wellington Street and officially opened at 11 Stanley Street, Central.

The good news is that the restaurant can now seat 25 diners, whereas it was previously limited to 15. The bad news for diners, however, is that it's already fully booked for the rest of the month.

Chef Vicky Cheng, newly hired by LPW owner Gerald Li, prepared a one-night-only wine-pairing menu for the grand opening on Monday for the press and the restaurant's shareholders. Guests eagerly waited for the bite-sized treats Cheng created in the open kitchen, forming a small queue in front of the bar.

The menu included the restaurant's signature ravioli, truffle gnocchi, lobster and a painting-like dessert platter.

Formerly based in North America, the chef said the menu reflected his journey to Hong Kong.

'There have been changes, especially in terms of the ingredients. [For example] bone marrow is so easy to find in the US but not here. I finally got some and I'm using it in tonight's menu,' he said. 'I live nearby so I visit the local market every day on my way to work [for inspiration].'
