HK riders go head to head to clinch World Cup ticket
Patrick Lam will head into the last leg of the China League this weekend knowing he must beat fellow Hongkonger Samantha Lam to clinch the solitary ticket for the FEI World Cup finals in the Netherlands next year.
Patrick Lam (pictured), who will ride Lumumba 15, trails Samantha Lam (no relation) on Double Dent by five points after two legs in Beijing in August and September. The Jockey Club backs both riders who are the hot favourites to win the CSI World Cup showjumping event being held for the first time in China.
'Samantha is the one to beat for the World Cup spot,' said Patrick. 'Although she had never ridden in an indoor ring, she is the most the most experienced rider in China. But ... the chances of one of us, and Hong Kong, qualifying are very good.'
