This week we test: pressed powder

Powder compacts are easy to transport and work best for touching up a shiny nose on the go. Just wrap a puff around your fingers and press powder to skin.

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation SPF15 (HK$259/8.5g) 7/10

This cream-to-powder product is lighter than ordinary cream foundations, leaving the skin feeling soft and unclogged. The handy brush applicator means there can sometimes be a streaking effect on the skin; a soft pat of the fingertips ensures a flawless complexion.

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Finish Powder Compact Foundation (HK$440/13g) 6/10

Clears red blotches, and it lasts all day. It leaves the face silky-smooth, but it's a bit too pricey - you should be able to buy refills.

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Sculpting Powder Makeup (HK$440/13.5g) 8/10

Yes, it's expensive, but this doubles as light foundation, with three shades that can be used separately or blended together. Light, non-cloggy coverage that lasts and glows.

Mac Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (HK$210/6.3g) 7/10

The powder is so subtle it's invisible and won't clog up your pores. It feels silky soft and helps hide tiny pores. But there's no puff attached, which is irksome.

RMK Pressed Powder N (HK$420/8.5g) 8/10

Its light and pearl-like colour and texture make your skin look translucent. The design of the minimalist case alone is worth the money.
