Mouth-watering treats take centre stage at chocolate line launch
Actress Jennifer Tse Ting-ting had been wanting to make a chocolate cake for boyfriend, actor Andy On Chi-kit, for a while, so when Godiva chocolatier invited her to be the special guest of honour at a banquet dinner that involved making, and tasting, chocolate she jumped at the chance.
Held on Thursday night at The French Window at IFC, Godiva unveiled its new 2011 chocolate parfait collection, created by chef David Funaro. A large group of foodies, from journalists and food bloggers to models such as Janet Ma See-wai and socialites turned up for the nine-course French dinner and tasting of the eight parfaits.
Tse and Funaro hosted the evening, giving running commentary throughout the tasting as well as making a parfait together. Before long, some guests joined them on stage to make desserts too.
The collection includes the parfait fraise, which takes white chocolate, bits of real strawberry, along with a mousse glaze to form what Tse dubbed a 'fruity explosion'. The favourite of the night, though, appeared to be the parfait javanais, made from dark chocolate layered with almond praline, coffee mousse and crushed coffee beans.
'This one works best after dinner,' said Tse.
