After 'knocking on the door' at his three previous runs this season, Prosperous finally broke through with a win in a Class Four Handicap (1,000m) yesterday. Trainer Derek Cruz said a suitable strong speed and a smart ride by Vincent Ho Chak-yiu, plus his five-pound claim, were factors in the win. 'He's been racing very consistently and was due for a win,' Cruz said. 'He has been knocking on the door. He went quite nicely today and hopefully he has got some chance up in Class Three with a light weight.' Cruz said while the gelding was not technically a roarer, he did make 'some noise' when he galloped, indicating a breathing issue and wasn't likely to be extended beyond the minimum Valley trip.
