Racing Ace will come up trumps

RACING Ace demonstrated that his turn is not far away with a good third to the young improvers, Starbuck and Gladstonian, in yesterday's fourth event.

Tony P. H. Chan's six-year-old disputed the lead with last-start winner, America Supreme, and given the pace they set could have been forgiven for dropping out over the last 200 metres of the 1,800-metre Class Three contest.

He did anything but that, battling on in determined fashion to only lose the quinella spot in the final bound to be beaten under a length by the impressive Starbuck who should eventually end up a Class One stayer.

Given the first three drew well clear of their rivals, the form of this has a very solid ring to it.

But one thing to note. While he can act at Sha Tin, he's much better off racing round the tighter city bends of Happy Valley.

It could also pay to keep tabs on Cash Bonus who should strip cherry ripe next time out following his creditable third to Fast Forward in yesterday's third event.

Yesterday was his second run of the season and he probably still needed it, having finished in the ruck behind Highland Laddie on his reappearance.

He was much more like his old self yesterday and could soon be betting material.
