Those who missed the Fashion Visionaries exhibition during the Shanghai World Expo last year now have the chance to see an updated version of it, closer to home - this time with fashion shows and talks by professionals in the industry added to the programme.

The Fashion Visionaries exhibition starts tomorrow and runs until March 12 next year at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin). It's being brought to Hong Kong by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association and Create Hong Kong.

Kick-starting the five-month show at today's opening ceremony are fashion shows parading the work of leading local fashion designers such as Walter Ma, Barney Cheng, William Tang, Lu Lu Cheung, Judy Mann and Benny Yeung. A Fashion Visionaries prize presentation will honour influential fashion personalities and professionals from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

More than 60 prominent fashion designers, including Koyo William Cheung Kwok-wai, Dorian Ho Kwok-ching, Peter Lau and Cecilia Yau, will also showcase their designs at the exhibition, and selected pieces will be presented in form of films and visuals.

The exhibition aims to offer visitors a glimpse of the history and development of Hong Kong fashion and design from the 1960s. It covers themes such as fashion visionaries and creations, fashion in movies and entertainment, as well as people in the field, including models, photographers and illustrators.

Three to four fashion shows will be held on various Saturdays, where up and coming talent and individual designers can present their latest work on a free platform. Interactive talks open to the public are also being organised to promote interest in creativity and awareness of local designs.

A book related to the exhibition will also be launched late this month. It is purported to be the first of its kind and a reference to the city's fashion design industry, featuring work that include photographs by Jimmy Ming Shum of model Lisa S. in Ming Leung Couture or model Eunice Chan in Cecilia Yau Couture.
