Nobel laureate shares 'beautiful mind' with pupils ...
One of 1994's three Nobel laureates in economics, John Nash, the man who inspired the Hollywood movie A Beautiful Mind, starring Russell Crowe, holds an open dialogue with pupils from Diocesan Girls' School. The dialogue, hosted by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will be the first time the celebrated academic has shared his wealth of knowledge with the city's high school pupils.

Nobel economics laureates Edmund Phelps (2006) and Finn Kydland (2004) speak at Shenzhen's Conference on International Exchange of Professionals on developing international expertise. China's more prosperous provinces and municipalities have been keen to tap more international talent. Shanghai, for example, plans to attract 90,000 financial professionals to work in the city by 2015 - a 40 per cent increase. However, some expatriates say the personal income tax rate, which can be as high as 45 per cent, is a deterrent to working on the mainland.
'Astronauts' emerge from 18-month voyage
The six-strong, all-male crew of the European Space Agency's most gruelling mission yet will emerge from their capsule this afternoon after an 18-month voyage that went, literally, nowhere. The would-be spacefarers spent more than 500 days in windowless isolation on a simulated mission to Mars that played out in a complex of chambers at a research centre in Moscow. The crew's only contact with the outside world has been over the internet and by phone lines that carried a delay of up to 20 minutes to simulate the time it takes for radio signals to pass between the earth and Mars. The crew of the US$10 million Mars500 project - three Russians, two Europeans and a Chinese - return to the world safe in the knowledge that the medical, physical and psychological examinations they have endured for the past year and a half will prepare future astronauts for real journeys to far-flung planets.
Papandreou faces confidence vote with tiny margin
Embattled Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou faces a confidence vote after calling for a referendum on the country's bailout deal. The parliamentary vote could topple Papandreou's government, which only has a two-seat majority in the 300-member assembly, with eight dissenting Socialist deputies having left the party or been expelled since he took office two years ago. Several prominent Socialists, angry at how austerity measures are being imposed by their own government during the country's financial crisis, are also calling for early elections. Papandreou's decision on Monday to call a referendum was met with hostility by European leaders, and heightened political animosity in Greece, with opposition parties all renewing demands for a general election. 
Deadline for Lehman creditors to vote on payout plan
The deadline arrives for 110,000 creditors of Lehman's estate to vote on a plan to pay out about US$65 billion, a major step towards winding down the investment bank, which collapsed in September 2008, the best-known victim of the global financial crisis.
