Grub: Turkish kebabs and grills.

Vibe: This is a tiny hole in the wall near the Causeway Bay end of Wanchai Road. Red and yellow walls surround tightly packed tables. Mirrors help create an illusion of space. Staff are helpful.

Who to take: Middle Eastern food can be very filling, so go with - a small number of - hungry friends.

What's hot: Although it looks pretty much like a fast food restaurant with an illuminated menu above the counter, for sit-down guests, the waitress will come to take your order.

The signature dish looks like some sort of kebab-burger hybrid. It is available with chicken or beef doner, or kofte, which is minced lamb. The meat and salad is piled up between two slices of what the menu calls Turkish bread, but what in the photo looks suspiciously like a sesame seed bun. The kebabs are also available wrapped in more 'traditional' flatbread.

Various other dishes are served only on a plate. These include Iskender kebab, which is thinly sliced lamb, and Adana kebab, which is minced lamb.

If you are sharing, you might consider a kiremit kofte. These are balls of minced lamb grilled and served on a sizzling platter with tomatoes and large, mild chili peppers. Served with or without melted cheese, it really is quite yummy. The perfect accompaniment would be a humongous Istanbul salad. This includes grated carrot, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, red cabbage, olives and feta cheese and is almost a meal in its own right; for an extra charge, you can add chicken or beef doner.

There are several bread-based options. Lavas is the typical flatbread used for the kebab wraps. It is available as a lahmacun, rolled out flat and covered with seasoned minced lamb. The resemblance to a pizza is quite striking.

What's not: The only dessert on the menu is a rather runny sutlac. This is a rice pudding made with milk. It tasted OK but was almost like a drink.

Cost: The classic doner are HK$50-HK$59. Kebabs on a plate are HK$65-HK$88. Snacks and starters are HK$30-HK$60. For two people sharing, HK$100-HK$120 per person should be plenty.
