Shades of grey are a big hit this season - on eyelids, lashes and nails.
Chanel's Le Vernis Nail Colour in graphite (HK$180/13ml) is part of the Illusions D'ombres de Chanel collection. At first glance, the polish appears to be dark grey but, on closer inspection, you'll find it's made up of silver, gold and platinum. The varnish is sparkly and changes colour in different lights. It's easy to apply, dries quickly and lasts for at least a week before it starts to chip. Available at all Chanel stores and counters.
The Organic Pharmacy's Organic Glam Eyeshadow Shimmer in charcoal (HK$285/2.8 grams) is a loose, dark grey powder eyeshadow with subtle silver flecks. It's easy to use but is very dark so apply in small amounts. The container includes an applicator, but it is too small. We suggest using a long brush. The eyeshadow works well for creating a smoky eye effect. Available at Harvey Nichols, Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Clinique's Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8-Hour Eye Colour in Born Freesia (HK$180/7ml) is a creamy, vitamin-enhanced eyeshadow. Ingredients include extracts of vitamin E, cucumber, caffeine and aloe vera. The eyeshadow seems thick at first, but it quickly gets absorbed, leaving a light-grey shine. It's lightweight, non greasy and doesn't smudge. Available at Clinique stores and counters.
Yves Saint Laurent's Mascara Singulier in grey (HK$250/7.5ml) is a light, lengthening mascara. Just sweep along the upper lash line to apply. It sets quickly but doesn't appear dry or flaky. Lashes become longer and thicker. The straight brush separates lashes and prevents the mascara from clumping. The shade is great for a natural day look. Available at all Yves Saint Laurent stores and counters.
