It was a list of firsts for four-year-old Excellent Win as he continued Peter Ng Bik-kuen's sizzling start to the season in the first race and the trainer himself reduced the result to its basics. 'He got a class drop in the handicaps and I got him fit - simple as that,' said Ng, who moved into double figures for a season just two months old. For Excellent Win (Ben So Tik-hung), his first win came at his first start for Ng, his first run in Class Five, his first in side winkers and his first race on the all-weather, while it was also the first prize money he had earned in seven starts. Ng has only twice topped 18 wins for a season since 1993, but has been in rare form and finds himself sitting fifth on the trainers' table for the new term.
