Daughter gives food for thought

IT must have something to do with the day itself, but sitting at the computer terminal on a Sunday putting this column together we often find ourself going into spiritual mode.

So yesterday Keeping Posted was reflecting on a story we heard of the tennis-playing wife of one of this town's leading tycoons returning home from one of the many charity balls that take place around this time.

On arrival at home she was asked by her teenage daughter how the evening had been.

'It was actually quite a nice ball but the food wasn't that good' responded mum.

She then launched into a diatribe about the poor quality of the fare at which point her daughter interrupted her in mid-moan with the stern rebuke: 'Mum, it is about the cause - not the food'.

Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings . . .
