Web music service out to spot talent in HK
Swedish music sharing service Spotify could be headed for Hong Kong. It has started a recruitment drive in the region, its website shows.
The platform allows its subscribers to stream music live on the internet.
Spotify is also known for its close ties with Facebook. Last year, it launched features that integrated the platform with Facebook and Twitter.
The company, founded by Swedes Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon in 2006, has its headquarters in London, with branch offices spread across European cities. Its US operations started in July.
In 2009, Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing bought a minority stake in Spotify through the Li Ka Shing Foundation. He increased his stake during the company's recent US$100 million round of financing that ended in June. Apart from Hong Kong, Spotify is also hiring managers, engineers and other posts in Singapore and Sydney.
