Rita Fan rules out bid

Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai has said she will not run in Hong Kong's chief executive election. Beijing loyalist Fan has denied that the central government put pressure on her to stand aside. Instead, she said, at 66, she was too old to last the five-year term.

Henry Tang Ying-yen and Leung Chun-ying are believed to be the favourites to take over from Donald Tsang Yam-kuen next year.
