Surgeon appeals against misconduct verdict

Cosmetic surgeon Albert To Chung-fung yesterday appealed to the High Court against his conviction by the Medical Council for professional misconduct earlier this year, arguing that the patient wrongly identified him as the treating doctor. The council heard that To gave a patient an injection to help her lose fat that resulted in serious swelling and pain. He was struck off the register for 15 months. To's lawyers argued yesterday that the council had erred in the fact-finding process.

Engine problem forces Cathay flight back to HK

An engine problem forced Manila-bound Cathay Pacific flight CX903 carrying 230 people to return to Hong Kong at 6.20pm. The problem in one of the Airbus 340's four engines was spotted 20 minutes after take-off. The passengers were transferred to a later flight.

Hospital confirms case of superbug infection

An 89-year-old man admitted to Caritas Medical Centre with pneumonia on November 5 has been confirmed to be infected with the superbug vancomycin-resistant enterococci, and three other patients to be carriers.
