Angland has the quality to dazzle
Tye Angland has made the most of limited opportunities of late, but a boost in numbers at Sha Tin today make him a solid bet in the Jockey Challenge.
Angland has had just eight rides at the last two meetings, but has still managed three wins - including a double at Sha Tin last Sunday.
This afternoon he gets a quality book of nine mounts on the busy 11-race card, with some top hopes among them. The Australian was the subject of punter's support last night to be $4 second pick behind perennial Jockey Challenge favourite Douglas Whyte ($1.80).
Everyone of Angland's rides has at least has a place hope, with his best rides Smiling Watch (race one), Country Charm (race two), Darpana (race five), Liberator (race seven) and Sweet Orange in the feature race.
Neil Callan was specked at big odds to firm from $40 into $20. His good chances are rides Five Stars Hotel (race one), Glory Win (race two), Telecom Top Star (race four), Good Thinker (race six) and Fun Heroes (race seven).
Frenchman Olivier Doleuze is worth watching as a $8.50 third favourite with nine rides and a couple of top hopes.
Doleuze pairs up with Eagle Regiment, who should start favourite in the Chevalier Lifts and Escalators Handicap (1,000m) - contested over a trip he has been successful four times. He also rides Vital Smart (race two), Fairy Boy (race five) and last-start all-weather track winner Green Zone (race eight).
