A cyclist, 54, died in hospital after falling unconscious from his bike in Yat Cheung Street, Sha Tin. The trade firm worker was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital.

Gold jewellery stolen in break-in at flat

A Tai Hang flat was broken into and HK$200,000 worth of gold jewellery stolen. A 32-year-old resident called police when he found damage to the door and gate to the flat in Sun Chun Street. The gold was stored inside a wardrobe.

Online vehicle registration tax system to begin

Hong Kong customs officers launch the online vehicle first registration tax system today. Vehicle traders can make online applications to become registered importers or distributors, request tax assessment of vehicles, and electronically file import returns and other documents required for vehicle registration by the Transport Department.

Sexual conviction scheme starts on Thursday

Police will implement the sexual conviction record-checking scheme from Thursday. When hiring people to undertake work that requires frequent contact with children or people who are mentally incapacitated, employers can request that job applicants' records are checked under the scheme, with the consent of the applicants.
